Speaker 1:

You know, I think the trick to 1% better is that you have to do it every day, and I correlate that to like nobody wants to have a one-hit-wonder life.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Right. You think we can all name a song that was a one-hit-wonder. I don't want people to think of my life as a one-hit-wonder. Like to me, showing up every single day and getting 1% better is no different than in the music industry of someone that puts out hit after hit after hit after hit right and over a long period of time. You look back and you're like damn, they were incredible, right. You can look at album after album that they put out no different than life, right? If you stack win after win after win and you continue to do that. That's the 1% mentality getting better every single day.

Speaker 2:

Welcome back to the Go All In podcast. I'm Jake Fine.

Speaker 1:

And I'm Braxton Cave, and today we have another All In Moments episode where we are going to hit you with a quick, insightful episode on a subject that is very meaningful to both of us, and that is the topic of being 1% better every day. Obviously, jake embodies this well and is committed to the 1% lifestyle with the creation of the Be Better brand. So, jake, kick us off.

Speaker 2:

Oh, we're digging in. I mean, it's one of the models that this brand lives by and you know, it's 1% better every day. It's a mindset, it's a commitment, a commitment to growth, discipline and never settling to yesterday's best. You know, it's moving that needle forward. But, yeah, I mean, greatness isn't built, you know, overnight, so it's just keep stacking those little wins until they become, you know, unstoppable momentum. Um, showing up every day mentally, physically and relentlessly. And because the goal isn't perfection, it's progress. And I mean there, you know, it's just funny, because you know you say one percent, you know it doesn't only go to 100%, no, there's no cap to it. You keep that mindset just to move the needle forward every day. There's no stopping you. So that's why I like this motto and the brand lives by it. So I mean, what do you think behind your perspective?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean it's interesting because I've used kind of the saying of 1% for a long time. An example that I wanted to use in this episode is when I had first started in my professional career in corporate America. On my whiteboard in my office I had written up there 1% better every day. And I remember getting into kind of like a heated argument with a guy at work because he took that as like I was trying to put more and more and more things on my plate and I was like no man, that's not what this is about. This is, I want to be 1% better at the things that I already have and continue to grow those. And you know, I think it's it's interesting because you get different people's perspectives on it.

Speaker 1:

But for me, you know, within you know I've talked about the business accountability group I'm in. It's called the 1% group and it's to the goal in that is to get 1% better at our four pillars every single day. And to me it's it's just an intentional and to me it's just an intentional approach to life to improve the areas that mean the most. I was listening to a clip the other day when I was on one of my rucks, of Kobe Bryant and the Mamba mentality. That's all the Mamba mentality is. It's 1% better every day.

Speaker 1:

And I think the trick to 1% better is that you have to do it every day and I correlate that to like nobody wants to have a one hit wonder life yeah right.

Speaker 1:

You think we can all name a song that was a one hit wonder. Um, I don't want people to think of my life as a one hit wonder, like to me, showing up every single day and getting one percent better is no different than in the music industry of someone that puts out hit after hit after hit after hit right and and over a long period of time. You look back you're like damn, they were incredible, right there. You can look at album after album that they put out no different than life, right, if you stack win after win after win and you continue to do that like that's the one. You can look at album after album that they put out no different than life, right, if you stack win after win after win and you continue to do that.

Speaker 1:

That's the 1% mentality getting better every single day, and we talk about it. But small wins every day compound interest, equal big wins in the long run, and that's what it's all about. And I think a lot of people will they get. They overwhelm themselves because they think 1% better as they put all these tasks on their, on their list of to-dos and they may have one great day of doing that and they're like, oh my God, I gotta do that tomorrow too, and it just becomes overwhelming.

Speaker 2:

Well.

Speaker 1:

I think the key to it is that your goals have to align with your actions, and if your actions and goals align, then what you're doing every day. It shouldn't seem like a tall task, it's just. These are the steps I'm taking to become the person that I want to grow and become, and so when those don't align, that's when I think it gets overwhelming. That's when I think it gets overwhelming, and as long as you're on that path of chasing the things that you want in life, it just naturally will happen 1% at a time.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's just like. You know, nick Bears, go one more. You know it's doing that. Extra rep, you know, just use Jim for an example. It's just, you know. You know, I did 12 yesterday, I want to do 13 today. You know um Ed Milet, his book, you know that. One is. What's that one called? Again, forget power. One more. Yeah, see, it's just doing that, that one thing that you didn't do the day before. And just building that, building those up and stacking the wins every single day. And you know you get that high inside too. You're like, okay, I'm, I'm feeling it, I feel good, and then you just want to keep on going and it becomes a, an addiction.

Speaker 1:

right, you know so you start stacking good days, you start creating that momentum yes yep, and then once you get that momentum going, it's hard to stop, and you know there's so many great things that come off of that.

Speaker 2:

You have that mentality with all aspects. Man you are, there's no stopping you at all, it's just being consistent and you know, staying with it.

Speaker 1:

So so I would say the action steps moving forward for the 1% better decide what you want in life, whether that's a short-term goal, long-term goal. Decide what that is, decide what you're going to commit to every day and then go and do that 1% every single day and let it compound. It's simple, it's not easy.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's basically your foundation. Right there, it's brick by brick. So yeah, that's it, man. That's basically your foundation. Right there, it's brick by brick. So yeah, that's it, man. That's it, we're out of here, thank you.
