Welcome back to the Go All In podcast. I'm Jake Fine.
Speaker 2:And I'm Braxton Cave, and today we're going to hit you guys with a little different format, something we're going to be doing more regularly.
Speaker 1:Regularly. I got you, we got to reset. I got you. Welcome back to the Go All In podcast. I'm Jake Fine.
Speaker 2:And I'm Braxton Cave, and today we're going to hit you guys with a different format than the usual, something we are going to be doing and introducing more regularly, and that is all in moments episodes. These episodes are designed to be quick, hitter episodes where we choose a topic that either the listeners have brought forward to discuss or something that is resonating with us at this particular time in our journey. All that being said, today's all in Moments episode is on the five-minute mindset reset, and Jake is going to kick us off with his experience in dealing with a mindset reset when life gets crazy and you have to refresh your perspective.
Speaker 1:And yes, I am, I mean to break it down for you like, the five-minute mindset reset basically is, like you know, simple but powerful practice designed to help you break out of, you know, negativity, refocus your energy, you know, take a step back, realign with your goals quickly and, yeah, simply, it just takes a few minutes. Um, I've done this and it. You know, sometimes you have to take a step back and, you know, take a look at everything, because you just get in the moment, you get moving too fast and just basically shift your perspective, clear mental clutter and get back on track on winning the mentality. So, basically, shit, I've had this numerous times with you know, doing 75 hard right now, you're going to have days that are not going to go as planned. You're going to have to pivot, make some changes and yeah, that's with this.
Speaker 1:I've had to do it numerous times, I've had to do it last week, I've had to do it this week. It's just taking that step back, deep breath, analyzing everything and basically doing a reset. And yeah, that's I mean, so far. What day 30,? What day 35?
Speaker 2:35, yep.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and it's already happened, you know, and it's going to happen more and more. And and with me, you know, building my brand and I feel like there is never a good day. It's always putting out a dumpster fire, I call it and um, yeah, this is a good tool to you know, to learn and for anything that happens to you in the future. I mean, you can use it. So we're going to break it down for you real quick.
Speaker 2:So, if you want to, yeah, I think, when it comes to the mindset reset, it's all about intentionality and perspective. And, you know, one thing that really resonates with me is that the things that we often complain about are the things that we used to pray about and ask for, and we often fall into the trap at least I know I do of you know, when I get this, I'll be happy, when I make this much money, I'll be happy when I get this house, when I get this promotion. And what I've learned over time is I've, you know, accomplished goals and gathered, you know, these material things. Like it feels good for a week, right. And then it's like what's the next thing?
Speaker 2:And I think, as you, you know, I've experienced this in life when I bought my dream car and I was like, oh, I thought this was going to like make me complete, right. And then you drive that car for like a week and you're like, all right, what's next? You're over it already. And Natalie would be like, seriously, like I thought that was like the car that you always wanted and I was like, yeah, but like I saw this other one and you know it's, it's something that Natalie like she's amazing, I mean, she reminds me so often that you know we have this conversation. I promise you it's like damn near monthly, I feel like, and she's like you get so laser focused on achieving the next thing that you do a horrible job of reflecting on the things that you have accomplished thus far and the improvements that you do a horrible job of reflecting on the things that you have accomplished thus far and the improvements that you've made in the person that you've become. And that's where I always have to have the mindset reset and it truly is.
Speaker 2:I mean, there's so many things in my life that I have now that I used to pray about. You know, like having children, right, there's days where, like the kids are nuts and you're, you just want to be like, oh my gosh, I can't handle this. And then you sit back for a second, you think about man, this, this is all I've ever wanted. And so when I get into that, that time of you know, it's, it's gratitude, it's reflection, it's taking a step back and, and you know, having a moment of wow, like if I look back at Braxton five years ago, I would be amazed at where I'm at today.
Speaker 2:But we, you know, also often, especially when you're high, achieving and you want to continue to grow in your life, like you don't ever take the time to stop and take in those moments. And so for me, wife is is a great counterpart to just the way that I roll and always onto the next thing, and she does a much better job than I do of just being intentional and be like, hey, like things are pretty good, and you reflect on that and you get, you become, you know the, the gratitude and you're grateful, and then it's almost like you get, you become, you know the, the gratitude and you're grateful and then it's almost like all right, we're back doing the next.
Speaker 2:What's the next thing? Um, so I think it's always good to have these resets apologies for my voice, I'm getting over a little sickness, but um, I think it's important to have these moments of reflection and gratitude, but I don't think it's to me. I don't ever want to get stuck in that moment Right and become complacent. It's, it's a fine line of being grateful and thankful for the things you have, but then also striving to continue to accomplish the next things that are to make you the best part of yourself.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think a lot of people, you know, when they get in this funk or stuff keeps happening, repetitive, they, you know. Instead of asking yourself why is this happening to me? What is this trying to teach me? That's, I mean pretty much what you're saying. It's just taking that step back, and that's where you got to shift your mindset, to go that direction. Don't go the one that's saying why is this happening to me? Because which I've done numerous times in the past you know I'm starting to learn now why stuff is happening, because it's these are lessons. You know we're learning these lessons to grow from and so they don't ever happen again and you know what to do if they do. So that's a.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean I kind of lean on you know what to do if they do so. That's a. Yeah, I mean I kind of lean on you know there's a. There's a saying out there of you know, never complain when your plate is full, when you begged and pleaded to eat. Yeah, and I think it's just. It's so, so easy to fall into that of man I got so much going on, but isn't this what you wanted? You take a step back, you're like, yeah, this is exactly what I wanted. And this is forming me into the person that I want to be.
Speaker 1:So, amen, you got anything on this, jack.
Speaker 3:I guess one example is for a five minute reset. An example that I've gone through recently is you know you talk about being laser focused and you know I should be here. I want to be going here and, you know, career wise I should be here. And when things are not turning in your favor, but then something out of the blue that you would never think about and you're like why, why is this happening? You would never think about and you're like why, why is this happening?
Speaker 3:That's an opportunity to take a step back and reframe and go what, what is this supposed to be teaching me? And then you, once you start looking back and going, oh well, maybe I'm not moving forward because I don't have the experience here here, here. How can I get that experience? Oh well, this opportunity may allow me that experience. But look at all this that I can grow from that. And it's such a when you start reframing and looking at it a different perspective, so many things unlock and then you're just. Then you get so motivated and you're like block, and then you're just then you get so motivated and you're like wow, I never even thought.
Speaker 3:But hey, and you have this you have. This could be you've come. Yeah, because out of your comfort zone, I know what you're talking about.
Speaker 1:So, um, he doesn't yet, but I mean, hey, god has a plan man and that's one thing that I'm.
Speaker 3:We've talked a lot about of being in control, and once you let go of that control, things fall into place. I'm letting it guide me where I need to go. Yep, so we'll see.
Speaker 1:Because I mean, you know we call them test days. They're not here to make you, you know, stop what you're doing, make you quit. They're here to see if you have the discipline, the mindset and you know the grit to push forward and learn from you know. That's what the five minute reset is here for to refocus and remind yourself. You're built for this. So that's my two cents.
Speaker 2:That's the moment. Yeah, thank you.
